Firefighters are trying to extinguish two fires in Brunswick County on Thursday, one in Bolivia and another in Shallotte, as floodwaters rise. The fire was quickly brought under control and an adjacent warehouse was saved from burning out. It was the largest fire loss in North Carolina since 1997 and the second largest this year.
Seventeen mobile homes were destroyed, seven damaged, 35 people were injured and two people killed. The tornadoes in Cleveland, Lincoln and Catawba caused the most damage in North Carolina history, leaving four dead and 19 others injured. After the Winston-Salem tornado disintegrated, a Third Forsyth County tornado formed and continued along the same path. The tornado damaged four homes, one of which was built of bricks, after it crossed the city of Charlotte on its way east, crossed the state line and landed on the west side of I-85 near the intersection of Interstate 95.
The outbreak triggered 16 tornadoes and caused a total of $169 million in damage in North Carolina. Major hail and wind damage was reported, and golf ball-sized hailstones were recorded as far south as Winston-Salem, Charlotte and Charlotte-Mecklenburg. All types of storm damage were identified, but the outbreak was the most severe tornado outbreak in the state's history, with more than 1,000 reports of tornado damage.
The strongest, an F3 tornado, caused $25 million in damage, and the last two tornadoes caused minor damage. The most powerful tornado in the outbreak, an F4 tornado, caused $1.5 million in damage in Charlotte and $5 million in Winston-Salem.
Two people were killed and 35 others were injured, and Bowman said another person in the county died when a car ran off the road into the floodwaters. The Bertie County Sheriff's Office confirmed that storm damage was detected, but could not describe how widespread the damage was as of 5: 30 a.m.
Walker said the Forest Service has four workers battling the fire, two from the North Carolina Department of Natural Resources and one from the U.S. Forest Service's Bureau of Forestry.

Carl Baker was the first fire chief and many fire drills were conducted. Many times the surrounding communities and the fire brigades have provided and received mutual help and support. Fire crews have secured the area with fire engines, fire engines, helicopters, bulldozers and other equipment. They have organised 16 staff working 24-hour shifts with a total of four ambulances and trained many of the injured to be alive.

Dare County also benefits from the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (AFG) grant program, which deducts all unpaid amounts. Grants from North Carolina's Emergency Management program help local and state partners secure federal funding, develop and implement capabilities that take into account the state's ability to prevent, protect, respond to, recover from, and recover from hazards - from humans and nature.
